2013 CrossHatch Shading
Appellation
Santa Ynez Valley
60% Grenache
40% Syrah
“Shading” is an artistic technique in which variations of dark elements come together to produce a much more complex, overall image. It doesn’t get much darker than the two Rhône Valley varietals of Grenache and Syrah. These two varietals are co-fermented to produce a profound, deeply shaded garnet blend that exhibits aromas of ripe figs, dark licorice, and deep black fruits. The jammy black fruits flow through onto the palate and are accompanied by hints of herbal spices, smoky white pepper and accented with mellow, earthy undertones. Pair with Duck Fat Roasted Vegetables with Chestnut Millet Crumble.
