2021 Carr Cabernet Franc Reserve
Appellation
Santa Ynez Valley
101 Cases Produced
Rossi Vineyard and Camp Four Vineyard were planted in the eastern end of Santa Barbara County in the Happy Canyon AVA. This area of the valley has a very hot climate with many summer days that reach temperatures over 100 degrees, which produce the perfect growing conditions for these grapes. The rocky soils of the foothills stress the vines into producing smaller clusters with richer flavors. We have selected the best four barrels from the 2020 vintage to make this Reserve. The wine was aged for 36 months in French oak barrels before bottling.
This complex Cabernet Franc opens with a touch of chili pepper spice on the nose followed by rich dark chocolate inviting you in for the first sip. Silky tannins wash over the palate with notes of black plum and blackcurrant, highlighting the supple nature of the fruits. Notes of the last sip linger for some time before dissipating to the background, just in time to reach for the next glass.
